Boiler Operator

The purpose of this position is to operate two wood-fired boilers and one gas-fired boiler to provide steam to operate the kilns and heat the mill 24/7.

- Monitors pressure, steam flow, water P.H. and overall performance of the boilers to identify potential warning signs and failures.
- Controls input of fuel and output temperature and pressure.
- Adds salt for water softeners.
- Performs daily cleaning of the boilers and boiler work area and basic maintenance on the boilers including lubrication, chain adjustments and disposal of clinkers.
- Monitors the wood byproduct/chips coming in on conveyors to ensure an even flow.
- Operates a forklift as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by shift supervisor.

- Experience with wood-fired and gas-fired boilers.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to obtain a forklift license.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A good attendance, work and safety record.
